A visual investigation and video compilation regarding the urban life captured by Google Street View and YouTube about small town in Brazil.
NEITHER NATAL, NOR PARNAMIRIM it's a visual investigation composed of two diptych videos that simulate the routes of two bus lines that connect the cities of Natal and Parnamirim (RN). An investigation and portrait about urban life digitized, appropriated and compiled on Google Street View and YouTube.
The bus lines in the videos are organized in layers that accumulate space, time and image. On a screen, the perspective of the camera-car (Google Street View) that photographs cities from a supposedly neutral and elevated point of view, which echoes the experiments of the first cinema - in which the camera was positioned on top of cars, streetcars and trains, recording the bustling urban life of the metropolises for the world. On the other screen, the images of vlogger's, amateur's, cameraman's and passers-by who recording their lives at all times, while archive their experience with the city for virtual and collective sharing on the internet (YouTube).
NEITHER NATAL, NOR PARNAMIRIM it's a proposal for a virtual collectivity, in the simulacrum of a collective transport that echoes a common point of view of all of us passengers, or even the simulation of a continuous daily life, made in the montage of images that represent anachronistic spaces and times, which organize one's history between the two cities.
