A CITY ALWAYS NEW is an archival film made with images from independent cinema produced in Natal (RN). The intention is to investigate how a city is created by its cinema; also understanding how the filmmakers' imagination feeds back an “idea of city” through their locations, narratives and characters.

In this short, the idea of a city without a past is something that permeates the identity of Natal's inhabitants, as well as its emerging cinema, which inscribes the city with images of the present.
